Day 1: Queue Hour

Week 2 started off with queue hour, where we set a time for all the kids to get online and start playing games together. It’s a great way to start the week off with some light-hearted fun and to reinforce the lessons learned in the previous week.

Day 2: Cyber Skills

In our latest session, "Understanding Your Gaming Computer Part 2: Security," we focused on the importance of keeping computers safe. The kids learned why computer safety is critical for protecting personal information, preventing viruses from damaging files, and keeping their systems running smoothly.

We also discussed how malware can spread to others and how hackers can take control of unsecured devices. Students learned how to create strong passwords, locate windows safety settings, and learned how to use google and microsoft edge browsers safely and efficiently using bookmarks and extensions.

Overall, the class highlighted how proper protection ensures both personal and computer safety.

Day 3: Coach Q&A and Queue Hour

The kids had the opportunity to play with our Overwatch coach, Gavin, and ask him questions about tips and tricks on the game. They played for a couple hours and were able to have a good time and learn a lot about the game.

Day 4: Valorant Class

This week, we explored basic strategies for both attackers and defenders in Valorant. Defenders are encouraged to spread out and gain information, while the attackers’ main goal is to find holes in the opposing defense. Students learned how to use callouts for quick communication, a key part of team success. We reinforced these strategies with hands-on practice in Swift Play lobbies.
